Happy with an A certificate, says Sriram Raghavan
Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming film, 'Badlapur' has been given an A- certificate.
Varun Dhawan starrer Badlapur has received an ‘A’ certificate due to sex and violence scenes
Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming film, ‘Badlapur’ that is set to release on February 20 has been given an A- certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification. Apparently, the film-maker remained adamant about retaining the sex and violence scenes in his upcoming thriller, ‘Badlapur’.
Though they were hoping to receive a U/A certificate, Raghavan says, “I am actually quite happy with the end result. We were getting a U/A rating but they were asking me to edit a lot of things, which I felt would rob the film of its flavour. Personally, I feel the film is for an audience of 15 plus. There should actually be another rating for the 15 plus audience. ‘Badlapur’ isn’t meant for children, so I am fine with the A certificate.”
The Board wanted the makers to trim down the steamy scenes between Varun Dhawan and his on-screen wife, Yami Gautam. They had also recommended that the makers tone down a kissing scene between Huma Qureshi, a prostitute, and Dhawan’s character. The members also wanted Raghavan to delete a scene in which Dhawan hammers a man to death.
With the film getting an A certificate, all the scenes have been retained.
