Rahul Pandey, the fresh, flirtatious voice behind the groovy number Haseena tu kameena main from Happy Ending debuts as a playback singer with the upcoming Saif-Ileana-Govinda flick. “I am excited to have bagged my first film under a big banner — Illuminati Films” says Rahul. “This has given my talent the right visibility. After all, it is not every day that one gets to debut as a playback singer for Saif Ali Khan.”
Hailing from Calcutta, Pandey completed his graduation from St. Xavier’s College and moved to Mumbai to pursue Business Management. The singer’s first live performance was at the age of eight and while music took a backseat with a full-time job, he quit it to fulfill his dream of becoming a singer.
Haseena tu… wouldn’t have been possible without Raj & DK’s and Sachin-Jigar’s support and faith in me. They are awesome people to work with. I love their music because their songs connect best with today’s youth,” says Pandey who has also lent his voice to The Deewana Remix by Sony Music, the latest Airtel viral video — The Trip, and TVCs for Duke Summer Collection and Nestle Everyday.
What sets him apart is the vocal range Pandey works in. Trained in both Western contemporary and Hindustani classical, Pandey can adapt his voice to various genres from pop to blues. While he agrees to being more inclined towards western singing, he equally enjoys Hindustani classical music too.
