Director Hansal Mehta, who co-wrote his National Award winning film Shahid with Apurva Asrani, has now handed over the entire writing work of his next project to the young editor. Since Mehta is busy with the promotions of his upcoming film CityLights, he said that Asrani will make his debut as a full-fledged writer with the film that is loosely based on Article 377 which criminalises homosexual acts. There were talks about Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing a key role in the film.
“It’s too early to talk about it as presently the script is being worked upon. As for Nawazuddin being in the film, no actor can be confirmed till the script is ready. Everything is in the planning stages right now and the film is only somewhat based on Article 377,” said Mehta.
Meanwhile as an editor, Asrani has two films releasing this May; Children of War is set to be in the theatres on May 16 while CityLights, which he has co-written, will release on May 30.
