Debutant director Nitin Kakkar, whose film Filmistaan is about an Indian film buff and a wannabe actor who is abducted by a terrorist group to Pakistan where he meets a Pakistani, also a Hindi film aficionado, is receiving accolades by the film industry including Amitabh Bachchan. He has been signed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for a project.
“Yes, I have signed my next film. Mr Mehra and his company had heard about Filmistaan and asked me whether they could see the film. They saw the film, liked it and signed me to direct a film for their company. Working with a director like him makes me feel that I am blessed as I have always admired his work. The story belongs to ROMPs, Mr Mehra’s production house. I cannot define the genre of the film, it is a little difficult, but it is content driven and not a love story as reported. We should start shooting in October,” said Kakkar, who has earlier directed some episodes of CID Special Bureau and Crime Patrol.
Creatures 3D pushed to August
The ambitious science – fiction thriller coming from the stable of T- Series and ASA Motion Pictures; Creatures 3D will now hit the screens on August 22 instead of the earlier scheduled date, June 27. While the film was earlier going to clash with Mohit Suri’s Ek Villain at the box -office, it will now hit the screens with the Rani Mukherji starrer, Mardaani. According to a source, the post – production work, especially VFX and 3D, is taking sometime and the makers don’t want to hurry up with the release without getting everything in place. Also, they wanted a better release date for the film and felt August 22 fits the bill. Directed by Vikram Bhatt, the film promises to be full of never before seen special effects, which were done at the renowned Prasad EFX in Chennai. Creatures 3D stars Bipasha Basu and is the debut venture of Pakistani model, Imran Abbas.
