Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna will contest the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha
seat in Punjab. His name was announced by the Bhartiya Janta Party when it
released a list of nine more candidates. Khanna will take on Punjab Congress chief Pratap Singh Bajwa who had defeated him in the last election in 2009 by a narrow margin.
Ragini MMS 2 in trouble?
Sunny Leone’s sizzling performance in Ragini MMS 2, and the invoking of religion in the film has upset The Hindu Janjagruti Samiti (HJS) who have called for a ban and demanded that the actress be deported. The organisation has in its memorandum submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) also threatened to agitate before cinema halls if the film is not banned. They have taken offence on the Hanuman Chalisa that is chanted when the film begins.
Salman Khan’s office threatens to file a complaint
Writer-director Muazzam Beg has abandoned his plan to direct a docu-drama titled Munna Bhai Sallu Bhai. The director received a mail from Salman Khan’s office asking him not to misuse the actor’s name to promote the film, and has allegedly threatened him with a legal notice. Apparently, Beg’s film was a story about a die-hard Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt fan.
Rumours about Lata Mangeshkar’s death due to a heart-attack went viral on Twitter last week. But, the legendary singer refuted the rumours as she tweeted about her well-being. Later, Twitter was abuzz with rumours of veteran actress Asha Parekh’s death. This time, the rumour seemed real, since it was tweeted by former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar and journalist Rajdeep Sardesai. But soon, Manjrekar deleted his tweet, while Sardesai apologised immediately for the misinformation and deleted the tweet.
