Big B to play a paralysed chess player in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s production

Actor Amitabh Bachchan, who has an interesting platter of projects this year, including the upcoming Bhoothnath Returns, R.Balki’s untitled directorial venture with Dhanush and Shoojit Sircar’s Piku, will now be playing a paralysed chess grandmaster in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s untitled production venture, to be helmed by Bejoy Nambiar. The film has Farhan Akhtar as Big B’s co-star, while the female lead is yet to be finalised. The project is scheduled to take off  in September, after Akhtar wraps up sister Zoya Akhtar’s directorial venture, Dil Dhadakne Do. When contacted for a confirmation, Nambiar did not wish to comment on the news.

 

Jacqueline Fernandez in Excel Entertainment’s Bangistan

Actress Jacqueline Fernandez has been confirmed for Bangistan, which is Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s production venture, to be produced under their banner, Excel Entertainment. The news was confirmed by a source close to the actress. The film is a satire, which has a different take on world peace and shows how religion is exploited as a means for terrorism. It stars Riteish Deshmukh and Pulkit Samrat, who will be seen playing young guns with lofty ideologies. Bangistan will be helmed by film critic turned director Karan Anshuman. Fernandez is in the spotlight with Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick with Salman Khan, which is currently under production and will also be seen in a double role in the Arjun RampalRanbir Kapoor starrer Roy, which is in the pre-production stage. With two hits in the form of Housefull 2 and Race 2 behind her, the actress is on clearly on a roll.
