It is now confirmed that director Bejoy Nambiar’s next starring Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar will go on the floors in December this year.
The thriller, which revolves around the game of chess, will see Bachchan and Akhtar coming together for the first time. It is produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. “I am quite kicked about this film, for obvious reasons. We will start filming the first schedule in India,” adds Nambiar.
Although there were reports about Kareena Kapoor Khan being roped in to play the lead in the film, Nambiar rubbis-hed the rumours and mentioned that he hasn’t approached anyone for the role. “There is still time for the film to take off and the pre-production work is currently underway. I haven’t approached Kareena or anyone else. Beyond that, I can’t comment,” mentioned Nambiar.
The director is currently busy with his production ventures under his banner Getaway Films, Pizza 3D and Focus. While the former is an out-and-out horror film, the latter is a journey movie with multiple twists.
“With all my films, the idea has always been to experiment with genres, add twists and make it look different. When I saw Pizza in Tamil, I knew that I wanted to remake this film in Hindi and bought the rights immediately. I can vouch for the fact that both Pizza 3D and Focus will live upto the kind of films that I have made in the past,” mentioned Nambiar.
Pizza 3D is scheduled to release on July 18, while Focus kicks off in the first week of June in Mumbai.
