After crooning Dil darbadar for PK, Ankit Tiwari will be lending his voice for songs in Alone and Roy which he has even composed. Known for his deep voice, Tiwari has sung the sensuous Katra katra for Alone. “I was working on Kuch toh hua hai for Singham Returns when director Bhushan Patel told me he wanted a sensual, yet romantic number for Alone,” says the singer-composer.The intimate song which Tiwari has sung in a duet with Prakriti Kakkar features at a critical point in the film, mentioned Tiwari, while refusing to divulge any further details about the theme of Katra…
Written by Abhay Upadhyay, the song combines notes of the flute, vocals and the acoustic guitar, “Despite the romance depicted, the song gives the listener the feeling that something is fishy,” says Tiwari as he talks about the kind of feel he gave this song. When asked about roping in Prakriti Kakkar for the song, he explained, “A fresh voice adds value to a song. I knew the texture of her voice which suits the song.”
Roy also sees Tiwari composing a song for KK who was last heard in Kaise bataoon from 3G. The song titled Yaara re, which has been written by Sandeep Nath, is about longing. “It’s pictured on the film’s lead pair, and is about the man realising that he is losing the one he has loved. It’s a little sad as the heroine has left him and the hero realises his mistake,” said Tiwari.
Tu hai ki nahi, also written by Upadhyay is, on the other hand, a relaxed song shot outdoors in Malaysia. It features Ranbir Kapoor riding a bike as he realises he has feeling for the heroine, played by Jacqueline Fernandes. “The hero is confident of own his feelings but is uncertain of how the heroine thinks of him,” said Tiwari as he spoke about the song’s theme which has even infused a whistle’s tune.
Tiwari’s third song for Roy is Boond boond, which has also been sung and composed him. It is an erotic number picturised on the film’s lead pair.
Apart from Roy and Alone, Tiwari has also sung the male version of Bheeg loon for Vishesh Films’ Khamoshiyan. The female version has been sung by Prakriti Kakkar.
