Adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s Revolution 2020 still on the anvil

The film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s book, Revolution 2020, may just see the light of the day. Revolution 2020, the rights of which were purchased by UTV in 2011, was to be directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. But before it could take shape, reportedly, some differences cropped up between Bhagat and Gupta. The rights for making the film expired in 2014 and haven’t been renewed.
Bhagat denies the reports stating that, “There weren’t any problems between us. Sometime, it just takes time to decide things. I was travelling a lot in the past few years and also working on my other books, so I couldn’t get the time. Now, I have to focus, make an effort to work out something and make the movie, even though the rights have expired. So, let’s see what happens.”
Details of the characters including the leads — Aarti and Raghav — are yet to be finalised. Reports suggest that Arjun Kapoor, who earlier played the lead in the adaptation of Bhagat’s 2 States may essay Raghav’s role.
Bhagat is yet to finalise the details for the film adaptation of his book, Half Girlfriend to be directed by Mohit Suri. “Mohit is busy shooting for a film, so once he is free we will sit together and finalise everything,”
mentioned Bhagat.
