Aashka Goradia, who’s currently essaying the character of Rani Dheer Bai in Maharana Pratap, will soon be seen in Adaalat, as a public prosecutor, fighting a case against Ronit Roy. Describing it as a refreshing change, the actress said, “When you are working on a daily show, there’s so much pressure of delivering an episode that you cannot be perfect. There are so many things on your head, and so many responsibilities to be a perfectionist. So doing a show like Adaalat once in a while is very refreshing as an actor, especially when you are seeking to perfect your skills. Besides, when you have a wonderful unit, things tend to get a little easy.”
Meanwhile, the current track of Maharana Pratap will see her getting more negative and vindictive. “That’s a surprise for the viewers. But all I’ll say is, ‘pressure cooker ko jitna dabao, utna hi woh zor se phatta hai,” laughs Goradia, adding that,”When I play an evil character, I relate it to life, and keep becoming a much better person.”
How Gunjan became Champa!
Gunjan (played by Roopal Tyagi), who was so far seen as a modern urban girl in Sapne Suhaane Ladakpan Ke, will be seen in a conservative Bihari woman avatar. The actress resorts to donning that avatar in order to save her husband Mayank from the clutches of blackmailers. But it wasn’t easy for the actress to get into that mould. “I couldn’t recognise myself when I saw my look for the first time. It is so different to how I’ve always dressed and looked till now. I’ve been preparing hard to get into the skin of this character. It’s not the appearance alone, but I had to work on my gait, dispostion, accent, dialect, etc as well. In fact, to get my act correct, I watched a couple of episodes of Zee TV’s Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kiijo, where Ratan Rajput had played a Bihari character called Laliya,” says Tyagi. Now let’s see if her ploy to go conservative will help free her husband from the clutches of the enemy.
