With her dream to share screen space with legend Soumitra Chatterjee turning real in Rupkatha Noy,by national award winner Atanu Ghosh, actor Radhika Apte still recalls how the thespian had applauded her for a scene.

“I am willing to work with Soumitra Chatterjee once again. I am serious about it. He is affable, accommodating and very gentle on the sets. I still remember how he praised me – ‘Bhalo Hoyechhe’- in his characteristic way after a shot,” the Antoheen girl Radhika told PTI here.

Recalling the shot,Radhika said,”He did not speak much. But the way he praised I felt blessed. Sure would love to work with sucb a personality again in future. Which actor won’t.”

Director Atanu Ghosh, whose ‘Anshumaner Chhobi’ had got national award, said Radhika and Soumitra had three important scenes, one of which involved lots of silent, evocative expressions on Radhika’s part while Soumitra’s screen character would do most of the talking.

“And sure it was one of the best and intense shots in the movie and the cast including Soumitrada looked happy as everybody broke into applause when we were through,” Atanu recalled.

Radhika, who portrays a girl haunted by a past and turning bitter for that experience in life with that chapter stalking her present and future, was the automatic choice after he watched her in Marathi play Kanyadaan, the Takhon Teish maker said.

“I had thought about her after watching Antoheen. But

Kanyadaan, staged at the national drama festival afterwards, clinched the issue and also her Bengali girl looks for this a bit quirky role,” she said.

“Atanuda is a soft spoken, sensitive director. I liked the way he explained the situations and characters and this is one character of a lifetime,,” Radhika, who had portrayed the role of a journalist in award winner Antoheen by Aniruddha Roy Chouydhury, said.

Exulting that she had shared screen space with two stalwarts of Tollywood and Indian film industry in as many films,Radhikaa said,”It was a treat to watch Aparna Sen giving shots before the camera in Antoheen. I could only absorb and match her vibes. And I hope I gave my best shot. And now it is Soumitra Chatterjee.”

The actor who can understandably follow Bengali, said fantasy leads into reality and fantasies never do last. “The title fits in well with the script which struck me in the first place when the director despatched it through a common friend,”

Also waiting for unveiling of third Bengali project Pendulum,Radhika said there were talks about her fourth film in Bengali as well but “would cross the bridge when it comes.”

Soumitra’s character plays the chronicler of the movie Rupkatha Noy who watches things unfolding in a neighborhood park, unmasking different facets of human nature.

Kaushik Sen,Rahul,Laptop and Apur Panchali actor Gourav Chakraborty are the other important leads in the cast of Rupkatha Noy,produced by Friends’ Communication.
