Mani Ratnam to shoot in Kashmir from month-end

The team will head to Kashmir to shoot some important sequences .

The next schedule of filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s Tamil romantic drama Kaatru Veliyidai, which stars Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari, will reportedly take place in Kashmir from the end of September.

“The team will head to Kashmir to shoot some important sequences this month-end. They were supposed to go earlier but due to the delay in the completion of the first schedule, it had to be postponed,” a source from the film’s unit told IANS.

Scenes between Karthi, Aditi and Shraddha Srinath will be shot in this schedule, apart from a song. The makers have already shot two songs.

Slated to hit the screens next year, the film features music by A.R. Rahman and cinematography by Ravi Varman.

In the movie, Karthi plays a pilot, and is said to romance with Aditi Rao Hydari who plays the role of a doctor. However, the makers of the movie unveiled the first look poster on Thursday gives a glimpse of the chemistry the lead actors will share in the film.

Well-known Malayalam actress K.P.A.C. Lalitha, known for her work in National Award-winning films Amaram and Shantham, also plays a pivotal role in the movie. “She has joined the sets in Ooty. She plays a Muslim character in the film,” a source from the film’s unit told IANS.

The movie is planned to be released by the end of this year and the team is working round the clock for this. Music director AR Rahman, cinematographer Ravi Varman and lyricist Vairamuthu are part of this Mani Ratnam project.

Produced by Madras Talkies, Kaatru Veliyidai also stars Shraddha Srinath, Rukmini Vijayakumar, RJ Balaji, Delhi Ganesh and veteran Malayalam actress Lalitha.
