After Onam, which saw much-awaited films Oozham and Oppam clash at the box office, there is an exciting line up of releases for Ayudha Pooja weekend too. Speculations are rife that Mammootty’s Thoppali Joopan will release on October 7, along with Mohanlal’s Pulimurguan, a film helmed by a debut director will take on the big players.
The makers of Kavi Uddheshichathu..? — while revealing the first look poster of the film on Wednesday — announced that they have slated it for a Pooja release. The film is directed by Thomas Liju Thomas, who shot to fame with Ramaniyechiyude Namathil, a short film that went viral on YouTube.
While talking about the success of his short film last year, Thomans had announced that he will soon make a feature film with the Ramaniyechiyude team. And earlier this year, Kavi Uddheshichathu..? was announced by actor Asif Ali.
Besides acting, Asif Ali is also bankrolling the film under his home banner Adam’s World Of Imagination. The film stars Asif Ali, Biju Menon and Naren in the lead roles and has Anjana Kurien and Sija Rose as its female leads.
Mohanlal’s Pulimurguan, meanwhile, after missing a few release dates, will finally hit the screens on October 7. The trailer and a video song of the film had managed to create enough curiosity among the fans about the film, in which Lalettan plays a role of a hunter.
Besides Mohanlal, the film also stars Kamalini Mukherjee, Jagapathi Babu Namitha among others in pivotal roles.
Mammootty’s Thoppil Joppan initially was expected to release on Onam but it was delayed. Now the reports claim that it may lock horns with Mohanlal’s film at the box office. However, there is no official confirmation on it as yet.
“Thoppil Joppan will have all elements to suit all types of audience. Do not panic seeing the tag line which says 50 percent alcohol and 50 percent love! I promise that this movie will entertain you,” Mammootty said, according to a Manorama report. He said at the audio release function of Thoppil Joppan that was held on Wednesday in Kochi.
After delivering back-to-back flops, Mammukka seems to be finally ready to taste box office success with Thoppil Joppan. We can’t wait to catch Mammukka in his ‘achayan’ swag on the big screen.
