Kamal Haasan’s trilingual comedy ‘Sabash Naidu’ undergoes shuffling after director’s exit

Actor-filmmaker has undergone a lot of shuffling since it went on the floors. After director T.K Rajeev Kumar exited the project following ill-health, the film’s editor and cinematographer have been reportedly changed. Rajeev was originally supposed to helm the project, which is currently being made in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

“When Rajeev fell ill and was subsequently hospitalised, Kamal took over the directorial responsibility. Few days after the team started shooting in Los Angeles, editor James Joseph had to exit the project to attend to his wife who had met with an accident in Kerala,” a source from the film’s unit told IANS.

The makers shot the entire first schedule without an editor. “After completing the US schedule, Kamal thought cinematographer Jaya Krishna Gummadi too need to be replaced. Kamal wasn’t unhappy with the pace at which he was working and is currently on the lookout for a suitable replacement,” the source said.

Sabash Naidu is a spin-off based on the popular character Balram Naidu from Dasavatharam. The film also stars Shruti Haasan, Ramya Krishnan, Brahmanandam, Saurabh Shukla and Roger Narayanan.

Earlier, it Kamal spoke about director Rajeev falling ill and his inability to direct the movie . This was to avoid any delay. “My director, Rajeev has taken extremely ill. The unfortunate setback occurred when we were on the fourth day of our recce in Los Angeles. He has been diagnosed with a Lyme disease. It is a rare infection prevalent in Europe and North America. This is the reason why I am now directing the film,” Kamal said in a statement.

“Rajeev is getting the best possible medical care in LA. We have put him in one of the best hospitals with one of our executives keeping vigil 24/7,” he added.
