Actor Madhu to be presented Pravasi Doha Basheer award
Veteran Malayalam film actor Madhu will be presented the Pravsi Doha Basheer award.
Veteran Malayalam film actor Madhu,who essayed memorable roles in various films,including the National award winner ‘Chemmeen’,will be presented the Pravsi Doha Basheer award at a function here tomorrow.
The award,in memory of Vaikom Muhammed Basheer,Malayalam novelist and short story writer,will be presented by eminent novelist M T Vasudevan Nair.
Widow of Basheer,Faby Basheer will present the cash prize of Rs 50,000 to the actor,a press release here said.
The award,consisting of a statuette,sculpted by artist Namboodiri and a citation,has been instituted by Pravasi Doha,an organsiation of Qatar Malayalees and Kochi based Pravasi Trust.
Rasana Begum of Thiruvananthapuram would be presented a scholarship of Rs 15,000 by Pravasi Doha in memory of Prof M N Vijayan,writer,thinker and activist.
