More from the world of Entertainment:

This movie is going to be the biggest project for the star as it is the 100th film of his career. Balakrishna is said to be going the extra mile to make sure that his film will make it to the history of Tollywood cinema. The actor has also completely redefined his look with some serious regal and warrior-like aura.

We all thought that Baahubali presented a huge war sequence on a grand scale, but Gautamiputra Satakarni has FOUR war sequences that have been shot in multiple locations. As the story is about warrior king Satakarni, there are close to 1000 Satavahana and Greek soldiers who will be battling with 300 horses and 20 chariots in scenic locations of Mount Kazbek in Georgia. A massive naval battle will also be shown in the film. A majority of the film’s 132-minute run will showcase war.

While there are four battles in the film, four locations have also been chosen where they will be staged. It’s most likely that every location will have one war sequence shot in it. The filmmakers shot the film in exotic locations of Morocco and Georgia, along the Russian border. In India, Hyderabad and Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh will be showcased in the film.

The movie is based on the life history of a warrior of the Satavahana empire in the second century CE, Gautamiputra Satakarni. It is touted in the industry as one of a kind. The Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao praised the actor and director for the script and said, “Telugu people will proudly remember their history from this Satavahana empire’s king Satakarni.” Balakrishna himself had said that he is fortunate to play a hero who gave “us the history and the Telugu calendar”.

Star cast

Along with Balakrishna, the film stars Bollywood dream girl Hema Malini in a crucial role and the actor thinks that the film wouldn’t have been possible without her. Shriya Saran is playing the lead opposite him. Under the direction of National Award-winning director Krish, the film has a stellar crew working on the project.
