Music director Aadesh Shrivastava, who has had a cancer relapse for the third time, is battling for life at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, and his entire family is hoping and praying for the music composer.
Aadesh, who has been in hospital for the last 41 days, is currently critical and a team of doctors are attending on him.
Lalit Pandit, whose sister and former actresss Vijeta Pandit is married to Aadesh, told Indian Express: “He is critical as the cancer has spread all throughout his body. He is not talking currently because of the increase in cancer and all the medicines that have been injected. He recognises everybody and when you call him, he opens his eyes. But he is not been able to get up from the bed. Cancer spreads very fast and the last 12 days have been very painful.
He could walk and talk earlier but now he is bed ridden. Also injections given by the doctors have not worked so far and we are hopeful that with more doses he may recover. This is a massive relapse and we are hoping he will pull through. The team of doctors attending him have been marvellous and they are trying their best.” (Read: Music composer Aadesh Shrivastava diagnosed with cancer again, condition critical)
Lalit also mentioned that the family was depending on injections from the US to help Shrivastava get on the road to recovery, but they have also failed and they can’t look for new therapy due to the stage of his illness.
“We were depending on these injections, but they have not worked. And he is beyond that stage where we can start a new therapy. He is in a terminal stage,” said Lalit.
According to reports, Shrivastava had expressed his disappointment in an interview about his friends from the film industry not turning up to meet him while he battled cancer in 2010.
But Lalit noted that “everyone that he has worked with has come to meet him” this time.
Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar had also tweeted showing concern over Shrivastava’s deteriorating health condition and prayed for his fast recovery.
“Many people from Bollywood have dropped in. Shekhar Kapur, Suchitra Krishnamoorthy, Poonam Dhillon, Anu Mallik, Jaspinder Narula, Abhijeet and many others came last evening. We are fortunate to have the blessings and love of the industry,” said Lalit.
Anu Malik, who visited Aadesh yesterday evening, said: “It’s very painful to see my dear friend in this state. I visited him yesterday. When I called out to him, he slowly opened his eyes and greeted me saying, Anu Bhai. He is a fighter and I am hoping he will fight successfully this time as well.”
Aadesh Shrivastava has composed music for films like “Chalte Chalte”, “Baabul”, “Baghban”, “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…” and “Raajneeti”.
