The rapper behind hits like Old Town Road and Montero (Call Me by Your Name) was reportedly arrested at the same time on Thursday, August 21, 2025, after police responded to calls that he was walking nearly naked in white underwear and cowboy boots along Ventura Boulevard in Studio City.

Montero Lamar Hill, aka Lil Nas X, reportedly charged at police when authorities arrived at the scene around 5:50 a.m. “Upon arrival, the suspect charged at officers and was taken into custody,” Officer Charles Miller told Deadline. Authorities said the incident may involve a possible drug overdose. “He was transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose and placed under arrest for battery on a police officer.” The rapper has been charged with battery on a police officer, along with misconduct, including public obscenity, and is currently in custody at Valley Jail in Van Nuys without bail, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department records. Report suggests he punched the police officer twice in the face before uttering words like, “Uh oh, someone’s going to have to pay for that.”

Earlier, a TMZ video showed Lil Nas X walking down the street, seemingly doing a catwalk. At times, he was singing, strutting, and telling a bystander, “Hey, don’t be late to the party tonight” and “Didn’t I tell you to put the phone down?” Meanwhile, his social media activity is raising eyebrows, with most posts wiped clean and only 11 remaining. His reps have not issued a statement. This isn’t the first time Lil Nas has faced health issues. In April 2025, he was hospitalised for partial facial paralysis affecting the right side of his face. In a hospital video, he joked about the condition, saying he couldn’t even laugh properly but assured fans he would be fine.

Fans have grown increasingly concerned over his recent antics, fearing another Kanye West like situation in making. Lil Nas X first rose to fame in 2018 with Old Town Road, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 19 weeks. He followed that success with hits like Industry Baby (with Jack Harlow) and Montero (Call Me by Your Name). To date, he has 11 Grammy nominations and is one of the most high-profile LGBTQ+ stars in the music industry. Known for his bold, eccentric personality and unique promotional style, he frequently makes headlines. The rapper recently returned with the EP Days Before Dreamboy in March 2025, ahead of his upcoming second studio album Dreamboy.
In their initial report, police confirmed the incident involved a possible overdose and battery on responding officers, and that Lil Nas X was subdued without serious injury.
