Last April, when former lovebirds Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello were seen dancing and kissing at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the internet speculated a reunion of the Senorita singers. Their fans might have had a meltdown hoping that the couple, who parted ways on November 21, were back together, but Camila and Shawn broke up again after reconciling briefly. Now, That’s My Girl hitmaker has called the decision of getting back with her former beau “impulsive”. She blames this trait of hers for getting back with her former flames.

The former Fifth Harmony member, who recently appeared on the podcast show Call Her Daddy, said “I think it’s known. I’m a fan (of reuniting with exes).” She added that the reconciliations have been “helpful” for her. “I’m kind of impulsive in that way,” she said, adding, “I opted for that route. It is what it is. It was a great route, it was a fun time. It was a fun moment.” Opening up on why she broke up with Shawn the second time, the Havana singer added, “You’re just kind of like, it’s not a fit, it doesn’t feel right.”

Comparing her situation with Ryan Gosling’s character in The Notebook, the 27-year-old called herself lucky to have an ex who is kind. “I was in a place in my life where it took me less time to realise that. It took us both less time to be like, ‘This doesn’t feel right and we don’t need to try so hard to make it work. It’s all good,’” said Camila of Shawn, adding that she will always care about him and love him. “He’s such a good person and I’m lucky because some people have exes that are awful, and he is not. He’s a really kind, good person,” she shared.

Camila not only roots for the idea of reuniting with a former boyfriend but asserts that there is nothing wrong with going for breakup sex even though her friends detest the idea. “I feel like if you’re wanting to have breakup sex, you’re probably gonna hit each other up next week. There’s still something there,” shared Camila, adding, “I’m a proponent. I don’t believe in the forbidden fruit — if you want it, do it. Kinda like ‘date him until you hate him’ vibe. I don’t actually hate anybody but I’m saying do it until it’s out of your system.” She said post breakup she misses the touch of her boyfriends. “You miss holding their hands. There is this whole phase of touch starvation as you crave their physical touch,” she admitted.

The singer, who is now seen sporting platinum hair — a contrast to how she appeared earlier — said she felt the need for this “big, physical change”. However, she admits that social media makes it difficult for her to get over past relationships as you are constantly seeing the person you were with on your feed. A self-confessed stalker, she says the experience of her and her ex moving at different paces is “worst” and “torturous”. “I have been an absolute psycho. In fact, when I was younger, I was even worse. I would be stalking the ex of the guy I would be dating. He would tell me he loved me and meanwhile I would be torturing myself for someone he is not even with anymore. I think it is crazy,” she admitted.

The Worth It singer, who was linked to Drake after their vacation pictures surfaced on social media, confessed that she has got better at dealing with exes and stalking them on social media. “I would like everyone going through a break to be compassionate to themselves. It is a choice between doing something that could really hurt me or telling myself, ‘Put the phone down!'” she said.
