Blind girl who sang ‘Sun Raha Hai Na’ to be trained by Hariharan

Tumpa Kumari, who is a visually-challenged orphan from Ranchi, Jharkhand will receive formal voice training from none other than veteran singer Hariharan.

Sixteen-year-old Tumpa Kumari, who is a visually-challenged orphan from Ranchi, Jharkhand will receive formal voice training from none other than veteran singer Hariharan, after a video of her singing went viral on the Internet.

Tumpa recently became a sensation after a video of hers singing ‘Sun Raha Hai Na’ from ‘Aashiqui 2’ was posted on Youtube. The video garnered the youngster much praise and appreciation from viewers.

It was here that singer Hariharan’s friend came across the video and informed him about it. Hariharan was blown away by Tumpa’s talent and unique voice, so much so, that he decided to train her.

Harisharan also met with Tumpa and had their first music session and he posted a video from the session on his Facebook page.

Chef Sanjeev Kumar, who also came to know about Tumpa, has decided to fund her singing expenses and support her.

Tumpa who lost both her parents at an early age, was being brought up by her relatives. She also has two sisters, one of whom has been employed since the age of 14 to support her family.
