Asif Kapadia bags Grammy for ‘Amy’, Anoushka Shankar loses again

Indian origin filmmaker Asif Kapadia on Monday bagged a Grammy Award for his film “Amy”; while internationally acclaimed sitarist Anoushka Shankar failed to take home the prestigious golden gramophone for her album “Home”.

Kapadia beat artistes like Alex Gibney and Dave Grohl to bag the Best Music Film award for “Amy”, a documentary on the life of late singer Amy Winehouse, who passed away at a young age of 27.

The British filmmaker who has Indian roots on Sunday even won a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) honour for the movie.

Shankar, the daughter of world renowned sitar exponent, late Ravi Shankar, was nominated for the fifth time at this year’s 58th Annual Grammy Awards.
