Thudarum box office collection day 6: Mohanlal delivers second-biggest Malayalam hit of the year after Empuraan, film nears Rs 50 cr
Thudarum box office collection day 6: In just under a week, Thudarum has already made Rs 44 crore at the domestic box office.

Thudarum box office collection day 6: The Mohanlal-starrer Thudarum has been playing in theatres for nearly a week. On its sixth day of release, Thudarum made Rs 6.25 crore across India, taking its nett domestic total to Rs 44.25 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. Thudarum released a few weeks after Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan, which is the one of the biggest global Malayalam hits of all time. Empuraan earned around Rs 105 crore at the domestic box office, and made around Rs 265 crore worldwide. This is turning out to be a grand year for the Malayalam superstar.
Thudarum saw an occupancy of approximately 49 percent on Wednesday. The film had around 200 shows in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram each, and witnessed an occupancy of around 76 and 62 percent respectively. In the Mumbai region, the film had over 100 shows, and saw an occupancy of 17 percent and in the Delhi-NCR region, the film had around 70 shows with around 15 percent occupancy.
Thudarum started its box office journey with Rs 5.25 crore on opening day, and earned the maximum single-day revenue on its third day, Rs 10.5 crore. The film’s collections saw an expected marginal dip on Monday but since then, the numbers have been fairly consistent. Thudarum is already the second-biggest Malayalam grosser of the year after Empuraan. The third spot is occupied by Alappuzha Gymkhana, which made around Rs 39 crore after its release on April 10. Officer on Duty and Rekhachithram, which occupy the fourth and the fifth spot, made Rs 30 crore and Rs 26 crore nett respectively.
Directed by Tharun Moorthy, the film also stars Shobana. Thudarum is being compared to Mohanlal’s hit Drishyam series by many audiences, as both these films follow a family’s fight with the justice system. Drishyam has been remade in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil Hindi, Sinhala and Mandarin. The Hindi versrion stars Ajay Devgn in the lead role.
Mohanlal will next be seen in Hridayapoorvam, co-starring Malavika Mohanan, and Vrushabha, and Shanaya Kapoor.
