Renowned actor Navya Nair recently became a victim of inappropriate behaviour in a public place when a random person tried to touch her while she was leaving a venue after the promotions of her upcoming movie, Pathirathri. A video of the incident, which occurred at a mall in Kozhikode following the audio launch of the movie, has surfaced online.

As Navya was leaving the venue with the movie’s team, someone in the crowd reached out and attempted to touch her inappropriately from behind. Her Pathirathri co-star, Soubin Shahir, swiftly intervened, blocking the person’s hand and preventing the situation from worsening. The clip also showed both Navya and Soubin glaring furiously at the offender. The video quickly went viral on social media, with many users strongly criticising the anonymous miscreant.

One of the most popular female actors in Malayalam cinema, Navya Nair has been in the industry for a quarter of a century. She made her debut with Ishtam (2001) and has since appeared in notable roles in movies like Mazhathullikkilukkam, Kunjikoonan, Nandanam, Kalyanaraman, Vellithira, Gramophone, Jalolsavam, Chathikkatha Chanthu, Pandippada, Kanne Madanguka, Saira and Oruthee, among others. A two-time recipient of the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress, she is now gearing up for the release of Pathirathri, directed by Ratheena, known for her work in the critically-acclaimed Mammootty-starrer Puzhu (2022).

Also starring Ann Augustine, Sunny Wayne, Athmiya Rajan, Sabareesh Varma, Harisree Ashokan, Achyuth Kumar, Indrans and Thejas, Pathirathri is written by Shaji Maraad. It features cinematography by Shehnad Jalal, music by Jakes Bijoy and editing by Sreejith Sarang. The film will hit the screens on October 17.
