Malayalam comedian and TV anchor Subi Suresh dies at 41, was suffering from liver ailment

Malayalam actor and TV anchor Subi Suresh passed away in Kochi, on Wednesday, after suffering from a liver ailment. Subi, 41, was admitted to a hospital in Kochi, Kerala, where she was undergoing treatment.

Talking to Mathrubhumi News, Subi’s friend and comedian Tini Tom said, “She (Subi) had been in the ICU for the past few days. She was about to undergo liver transplant surgery. We had done everything to expedite the process with the help of political and social activists. However, Subi’s condition worsened and she was shifted to the ventilator the other day. We did our best, but to no avail.”

Subi Suresh’s team also took to her social media handle and wrote, “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. See you all again… Thanks ❤️❤️❤️.”

After Subi Suresh’s death, her colleagues from the Malayalam entertainment industry took to social media to pay their tributes. Mimicry artist Sajan Palluruthy posted on Facebook, “The artist who was there with me from the beginning of my career is gone. My family and I can’t come to terms with my young sister’s death. She is no longer around to call me brother.” Actor Dulquer Salmaan tweeted, “Absolutely shocked to hear about Subi Suresh. Soo young and so much left to do. A real loss to the Malayalam film fraternity. Praying for her family and friends to cope through this difficult time.” Actor Manoj K Jayan posted a photo of Subi on Instagram and wrote, “Condolences 🌹🙏.” Actor Shwetha Menon, meanwhile, shared, “SHOCKING…. SOMETIMES GOODBYES ARE DIFFICULT TO SAY ….KEEP SPREADING POSITIVE YOU WERE EVER YOU ARE SUBIIIII🙏.”

Subi Suresh was known for her quick wit and comic timing. Subi started her career as a dancer and mimicry artist. After being part of several comedy stage shows with the Kalabhavan troupe, she made her debut on the small screen. Subi was seen in several comedy TV shows, including the popular parody series Cinemala on Asianet.

The actor made her silver screen debut with Kanaka Simhasanam. She went on to act in over 20 films, including Panchavarnathatha, Drama, 101 Weddings, Grihanathan, Happy Husbands, Elsamma Enna Aankutty, Thaksara Lahala and Lucky Jokers. Subi was also a popular anchor.

Subi Suresh is survived by her parents and brother.
