The makers of Debutant director Adhvaith Nayar’s wrestling film Chatha Pacha has dropped its first teaser. The film revolves around the underground wrestling scene in Kerala.

The promo opens with the familiar sound of a ring bell, which indicates the starting or finishing of a wrestling match. Fans of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) would particularly get an instant dose of nostalgia entering into the world of Chatha Pacha.

The ring announcer is heard saying in the teaser that his fellow wrestlers have often been at the receiving end of taunts as society often looks down upon them. He gives them a pep talk and encourages them to turn their fists, clenched out of frustration and humiliation, into packing a punch in the ring. That call to action is then followed by a montage of wrestling moves, ranging from sucker punches to dropkicks.

At the end of the teaser, an impressed Vishak Nair terms the moves he witnessed as “mass.” Roshan Andrew then appears, revealing his face behind the wrestling mask. The film also stars Arjun Ashokan, Ishan Shoukath, Siddique, Lakshmi Menon, and Manoj K Jayan among others.

Chatha Pacha also boasts of a seasoned crew, with Anend C. Chandran cranking the camera, Kalai Kingson designing the action inside the squared circle, Praveen Prabhakar as the editor, and Sanoop Thykoodam as the screenwriter. While Mujeeb Majeed has provided the original score, popular Bollywood composer trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy will make their Malayalam debut, working in tandem with lyricist Vinayak Sasikumar.

Chatha Pacha will be a pan-India release, with Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films distributing it in the home state after the historic success of Dominic Arun’s superhero film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra earlier this year. Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions will present the Hindi dubbed version whereas PVR Inox Pictures will handle the distribution in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The distributor for the Telugu market hasn’t been revealed yet.

“Chatha Pacha is unlike anything I’ve done before. The best part is I think that’s true for most of us who are part of this film. It really is a uniquely mad idea,” said Roshan Mathew in a statement. The film is slated to release in cinemas in January 2026.
