It seems to be an unfortunate period for Bejoy Nambiar’s Solo that released on October 5. The bilingual’s Tamil version had to be pulled out of theaters in Tamil Nadu after just a day due to the ongoing Tamil Film Producer Council’s strike against Local Body Entertainment Taxes. Now, the climax of the Malayalam version has been changed without Bejoy’s consent, tweeted the director. “For all those asking about the changed ending. It has been done without my knowledge and consent. Good or Bad I stand by the film I made,” the director had tweeted.
On contacting the director about the issue, Bejoy declined to say any further. “I don’t want to say anymore on this to avoid controversy,” he said. However, he confirmed that the film will be re-releasing in Tamil as it is after the strike. The director said that the decision was not in his control and did not wish to comment.

Solo is a romantic anthology that has four chapters, each styled on an element of nature (water, air, fire and earth). The film starred Dulquer Salmaan as the lead in all the four chapters with a different leading lady in each. Neha Sharma, Sai Dhansikaa, Sruthi Hariharan and Arthi Venkatesh played the female leads. The film had a brilliant music album consisting of songs from eleven music composers. The film was also shot by three cinematographers. While the movie was widely appreciated for its music and aesthetics, the climax of the movie was a point of contention for most of the critics and audience.
