Actor-politician Krishna Kumar and his wife Sindhu’s second daughter, social media celebrity Diya Krishna tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend Aswin Ganesh in a traditional ceremony on Thursday, attended by their family members and close friends. Aswin, who works as an application development analyst at Accenture, and Diya held the event at a high-end hotel in Thiruvananthapuram.

Diya made a unique appearance at the wedding, dressed in a pastel bronze saree, paired with a net dupatta over her head and a striking emerald green necklace. She chose minimal jewellery and subtle makeup. Her bridal saree, designed by Joyal Jacob Mathew, took a month to craft entirely by hand and cost nearly Rs 2 lakh. Aswin complemented her look in traditional Tamil groom attire, wearing a shirt, mundu (dhoti) and veshti matching the colour of Diya’s saree. Diya’s family, including her parents Krishna Kumar and Sindhu, along with her siblings Ahaana Krishna, Ishaani and Hansika, wore elegant light pink outfits.

After the ceremony, Diya shared that it was she who chose to have a small, intimate wedding without a large crowd. Manorama Online reported that notable figures from the film and political spheres, such as Suresh Gopi and Suresh Kumar, were in attendance.

Krishna Kumar expressed his deep joy at his daughter’s wedding, explaining that they would not be hosting any additional celebrations, emphasising that the Covid-19 pandemic taught them the value of a simple and modest wedding.

Aswin proposed to Diya on January 23 and she eagerly accepted. Since then, the couple has been actively planning their wedding. According to Mathrubhumi, they also recently participated in a traditional Thali Puja at Aswin’s family temple in Nagercoil, with his parents in attendance.

Krishna Kumar, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was the party’s candidate for the Thiruvananthapuram constituency in the 2021 Kerala Legislative Assembly election and for the Kollam Lok Sabha constituency in the 2024 general election, but was unsuccessful in both races. While Diya’s sisters Ahaana and Ishaani are actors, the entire family is well-known on social media, though they have occasionally run into controversies for casteist and elitist remarks.
