Tom Hanks shoots ‘A Hologram for the King’ in Egypt

‘A Hologram for the King’, directed by German helmer Tom Tykwer and starring Hanks, 58, tells a story of a failed American businessman looks to recoup his losses by traveling to Saudi Arabia and selling his idea to a wealthy monarch. The movie is based on a 2012 novel of the same name by Dave Eggers. Hanks will spend 25 days in Egypt to finish the scenes. The film is set to premiere in November 2015.

Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism said the US actor filming in Egypt will attract tourists. The country has faced a decline in the number of tourists visiting the country since the January 25 revolution in 2011. Tourists visiting Egypt in June declined 20.5 per cent compared to the same period last year, reported the Ministry of Tourism. The first half of 2014 saw just 4.4 million tourists visiting Egypt. The tourism industry is an important source of income for Egypt’s economy.
