Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to return to UK after 6 years in US
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be returning to the UK after residing in the US for six years. The couple will reside outside of London.

Prince Harry and his wife, former actor Meghan Markle, have decided to return to the United Kingdom after staying in the United States for six years, as per a report in AP. The report stated that the couple’s children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, will be moving with them and have already enrolled in British schools. Their classes will start in September. The family will reside outside of London and will not be performing any royal duties. They will maintain their home in California and vacation property in Portugal.
When Harry was asked about the same during a roundtable event with US veterans in Washington, he said, “Nothing to say,” as per The Daily Telegraph.
The report states that Harry’s father, King Charles III, was informed about the couple’s decision on Sunday. Harry and Meghan had visited the UK last month, after reports emerged that Harry wanted to reconcile with his father, who is currently battling cancer. He told BBC in 2025, “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”
Harry and Meghan gave up their royal duties and moved to the US almost six years ago. In the 2022 Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan, they said that they had moved away from the UK because of security reasons. “Our security was being pulled. Everyone in the world knew where we were,” Meghan said. Harry even said that they were victims of “institutional gaslighting” and said that he was treated unfairly, in comparison to his brother. “They were happy to lie to protect my brother. They were never willing to tell the truth to protect us,” he said. Meghan added, “I wasn’t being thrown to the wolves. I was being fed to the wolves.” They saw their move to the US as an end to the “first chapter”, and Meghan said, “It gave us a chance to create that home we had always wanted,”
Harry’s memoir ‘Spare’ also added tension to the mix as he criticised palace officials and said that Meghan’s mental health was not being considered by the royal family. In a chat with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan had accused the royal family of being racist.
Harry and Meghan got married in 2018.
