Oscar-winning actor Kate Winslet has reunited with “Titanic” director James Cameron after 20 years for his upcoming “Avatar” sequels. The actor and director duo coming together for sure is going to make the audience nostalgic.
“Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on ‘Titanic’, which was one of the most rewarding of my career. I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life,” James Cameron told Variety.com on Kate being cast for his sequels.
Released in 2009, “Avatar” currently holds the record for highest grossing film till date with collections of $2.8 billion. The upcoming four sequels of the film will hit theaters starting on December 18, 2020 for “Avatar 2”. “Avatar 3” will release on December 17, 2021, followed by a three-year break for “Avatar 4”, which is slated for December 20, 2024. “Avatar 5” will release on December 19, 2025.
Cameron began filming the first of the four movies last week in California. The films will mark the return of previous cast members including Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, CCH Pounder and Stephen Lang.
Meanwhile, Kate is busy with couple of projects in her kitty. The actor would be seen sharing the screen space with Idris Elba in The Mountain Between Us, which releases this Friday. The Reader Oscar winner next appears in Woody Allen’s Wonder Wheel for Amazon, which releases on December 1. She will also star in an untitled biopic about American photojournalist and war correspondent Elizabeth Miller.
