Indo-Brit actress Archie Panjabi to star in disaster film

British actress of Indian-origin Archie Panjabi has been signed up for a major disaster movie in Hollywood.

Panjabi, who is a familiar face of US television with the hit show ‘The Good Wife’, will be playing a reporter in the film titled ‘San Andreas’.

The action thriller is being directed by Brad Peyton and stars Dwayne Johnson as a rescue worker trying to save his former wife and daughter during the largest earthquake in California history. It is scheduled for release in June 2015.

Panjabi, who is known in the UK for her role as Pinky Bhamra in Gurinder Chadha’s ‘Bend It Like Beckham’, won an Emmy Award for her role as Kalinda Sharma in ‘The Good Wife’.

Her other credits include ‘The Widower’ and ‘The Fall’ and she next appears in Fox Searchlight’s ‘I Origins’. Panjabi was born in north London in 1972 and got her break playing Meenah Khan in 1999’s ‘East Is East’.
