The first teaser trailer for Game Night starring Rachel McAdams, Jason Bateman is out and it seems like a decent comedy. Married couple Jason and Rachel are hardly aware that their simple night of couples will soon turn into a bloody affair. Halfway through the teaser trailer it almost becomes difficult to conclude if this film falls in the genre of comedy or crime. Maybe both. It begins with Brooks explaining to a bunch of couples rules of a new game when suddenly a few masked men enter and he gets kidnapped. Under normal circumstances, you would usually expect ‘oh my god’ or some scared expressions, but to everyone present at Jason’s house, it looks like an act. That’s why instead of calling the police or noting the number of the car which is used in the kidnapping their brother, they advise the masked men to ‘drive safe’ as they abduct him. Soon much like the couples in the game we remain unaware if everything is for real or if it’s all a part of the game until people really start to unmindfully shoot each other, or get sucked into the engine of a plane.
The teaser of the film seems to have a touch of Bradley Cooper starrer Hangover films where a bunch of commoners cross path with criminals. But here the characters aren’t even aware if they are confronting something real, or if it’s just an act. Considering the latter option, they probably end up ignoring the real danger that is awaiting them.
Game Night is expected to release in March next year.
