Avengers 4 is easily the most awaited film of 2019. Not only would it bring to end the Thanos storyline, it would also reveal whether the superheroes who died in Avengers: Infinity War would return or not. Another reason the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) fans are looking forward to it is the likely reunion of Tony Stark and Captain America. After Thanos obliterated half the universe’s life in Infinity War, the rest of the superheroes are expected to regroup and take the fight to him.

If you remember, the two superheroes had a rift back in Captain America: Civil War. The Avengers were divided in two factions – one led by Tony and the other by Steve. The factions had a fight as well, though there were no casualties. After the fight, Tony and Steve engaged in an one-on-one with Tony trying to kill Steve’s friend Bucky Barnes (also known as the Winter Soldier) for killing his parents while being brainwashed by Hydra.

Steve was successful in saving his friend from Tony, but the duo parted ways and have not met since. There will be 8 movies since the falling-out in Civil War and their reunion (hopefully) in Avengers 4. While Tony had an option to call Steve and join forces with him in Infinity War, he was interrupted by Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian’s arrival in New York.
Now what about Avengers 4? According to Jeremy Conrad, who runs a website called MCU Cosmic, the two heroes will meet, but only in flashback. It is rumoured that there will be a time-jump between the events of Infinity War and Avengers 4 — as many as five years might pass. This means we will likely not see the heroes dealing with the immediate aftermath of the film.
In a tweet, Jeremy Conrad wrote, “Will there be a time jump in Avengers 4? Most likely yes. Will we not see Tony and Steve reunite? If it happens it’ll be a flashback as someone has to explain to Scott Lang what happened while he was stuck in the Quantum Realm…”
Conrad’s predictions usually do come true. If this is indeed the case, and he is right again, then the war in Avengers 4 will be on at least two fronts. In Infinity War, too, Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy were divided. While Captain America, Black Panther and others fought Thanos’ forces in Wakanda, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and others squared up against Thanos himself on his own planet Titan. Captain Marvel’s arrival may make her a leader since she has more experience of cosmos and aliens than probably any other superhero. Played by Brie Larson, the character will get a movie a couple of months before Avengers 4.
Avengers 4 releases on May 3.
