The distribution rights of upcoming political drama “The Runner”, starring Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage, has been acquired by Alchemy, the leading independent film and television distribution entity.
Written and directed by Austin Stark, the film co-stars Sarah Paulson, Connie Nielsen, Wendell Pierce, Bryan Batt and Peter Fonda. Scheduled for the release later this year, the film has Cage, 51, essaying the role of a politician whose career is destroyed by a sex scandal in the wake of the 2010 BP oil spill, said The Hollywood Reporter.
“With ‘The Runner’, Austin Stark has crafted a captivating drama through a personal lens while tackling an event that resonated globally and remains very relevant in today’s environment,” Brooke Ford of Alchemy said. “The Runner” is produced by Bingo Gubelmann, Benji Kohn, Glenn Williamson, Erika Hampson and Chris Papavasiliou.
