‘Wanted to promote cause of transgenders via Bigg Boss’

I thought people need to be told the truth about us,so appeared on Sach ka Saamna says Laxmi.

Social activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi has no regrets in being booted out from the Bigg Boss house this week as she says her purpose of highlighting the cause of transgenders has been served, for which she has also received help from actor Salman Khan.

Laxmi, who has been actively advocating her cause for 12 years now,had her first brush with reality TV via Salman’s show ‘Dus ka Dum’,followed by the controversial ‘Sach Ka Saamna’ two years ago and now Bigg Boss.

“Salman Khan, like a true man,had the guts to stand by a transgender having me as a guest on Dus ka Dum. By taking up Bigg Boss I wanted to show that even a transgender can live a normal life with love and harmony, they need not be treated differently,” Laxmi said over the phone from Mumbai.

“I thought people need to be told the truth about us,so appeared on Sach ka Saamna. I have done all the controversial reality shows,” she added.

Laxmi was one of the 14 contestants who went inside the Bigg Boss house at the beginning of this season, which is hosted by Sanjay Dutt and Salman.

She was nominated this week along with Pooja Misra,Mahek Chahal and Akashdeep Saigal. Like every other contestant on the current season, she too had a few run-ins with Misra, who she says gets saved every week because is playing the game well.

“Pooja is the footage queen. She has seen previous seasons and knows what sells. So that’s what she is doing. She is picking up fights with everyone.”

Terming her 42-day stay inside the house as fantastic,Laxmi says she would love to go back inside.

“There is so much love inside the house. I made friends with Pooja Bedi,Shonali Nagrani,Juhi Parmar. It was the real Laxmi that you saw on the show. I had forgotten that there were cameras around,” said Laxmi.
