After reportedly going ‘missing’ on Friday,Pakistani actor Veena Malik’s manager on Sunday said she was staying at Hotel Oakwood in Juhu. Prateik Mehta said the actor was unwell for the past few days and wanted to rest without anyone knowing her whereabouts.

“I spoke to Veena on Sunday morning. She told me she was unwell and wanted to rest. She is sick and wanted to recuperate. She is resting at Hotel Oakwood in Juhu. The doctors have prescribed antibiotics for her and advised her bed rest,” said Mehta.

“Veena did not have any commitments for the past two days. After shooting for a film, she was free for a few days and decided to take a break. She checked into the hotel on Friday morning,” said Mehta.

He said Malik had not informed him that she was taking the days off to rest. “At the end of the day,I am her manager. She may have not told me because she wanted to take time for herself,” he said.

Mehta also chose to deny rumours that Malik had gone back to Pakistan. “Reports which were doing the rounds that Malik had some problems with her visa are not true. She had not gone to Pakistan and was in Mumbai.”

Her manager also said they had not registered a missing person’s complaint as Malik’s lawyer was not in the country. “I had gone to the Bandra police station but was told to wait for 24 hours before the complaint could be registered. We consulted her lawyer, who told us to wait for a day as he was in Thailand. He left immediately and came back to the city. We were drafting the complaint when we got in touch with Malik,” said Mehta.

Police officers, however, said they were still unaware of Malik’s whereabouts. “No missing person’s complaint was registered. For us,it is immaterial if she is in Mumbai or Pakistan unless a specific complaint is registered,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 9) Pratap Dighavkar.

Malik hit the headlines in 2010 after she testified against her boyfriend,Pakistani fast bowler Mohammed Asif, alleging he was involved in match fixing. She also participated in the fourth season of reality TV show Bigg Boss.

Malik had also been condemned by Islamic clerics for her ‘nude’ picture on the cover of FHM magazine even as she claimed the magazine had morphed the pictures.
