2013 was a year in which touched new heights in popularity and readership engagement. Our most read stories and topics were those that touched a chord with the reader.

The story of Anil Gurav – Mumbai biggest cricket star before Sachin Tendulkar burst on to the scene,captured a lot of hearts and clocked over 4,00,000 page views. Stories and picture galleries about Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement and his last Test series were one of our most read topics this year with over 10 million page views.

News stories around Naredra Modi generated over seven million page views and is sure to be a hot topic for many months to come. Since our readers have an insatiable appetite for political we weren’t surprised to see that the Assembly elections in five states,and AAP’s rise as a political outfit were keenly followed. The allegations of sexual harassment against Tarun Tejpal brought close to a million page views. We were the first to have an exclusive interview with Tejpal,and our investigation into the Late Ponty Chadda’s investment in Tejpal’s elite club and the ownership structure of the company that holds the Tehelka Thinkfest were read and shared across the world.

Similarly,Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle’s column Talking Sport too consistently generates a lot of reader interest.

This year has also shown us that Express readers appreciate the quality of our entertainment coverage. Regarded as India’s finest film review page,Shubhra Gupta and Shalini Langer’s reviews clocked unprecedented page views this year. Krrish 3 review did over 4,10,000,while Ram Leela and Chennai Express both got over 2,00,000 page views.
