Saroja Devi gets N T Rama Rao National Film Award

Producer K Raghava will be given the Raghupati Venkaiah Award,the Telugu equivalent of Dada Saheb Phalke Award.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will present the awards at a function here on December 12.

Born in Karnataka,72-year-old Saroja Devi has acted in about 170 films in Telugu,Tamil,Kannada and Hindi and won several honours at the state and the national level. She was conferred the Padma Bhushan in 1992.

Saroja Devi made her debut in Telugu films with the legendary N T Rama Rao’s ‘Panduranga Mahatyam’ and went on to act alongside him in many other films. She also starred opposite Akkineni Nageswara Rao.

The NTR National Film Award carries a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh,a memento and a citation.
