The case is sub-judice. The papers I have submitted in court are there for everyone to see. Everything is transparent, including the copies of the cheques I had written for Shaandaar Amrohi
Preity Zinta, last seen in her home production Ishkq In Paris, has filed a case in the Mumbai High Court on November 12. Her claim is that she had lent a sum of Rs. two crore to the late film-maker Shandar Amrohi when he needed it. The actress was close to Shandar Amrohi who treated her like a daughter . When he got into a property dispute with his siblings Rukshar and Tajdar, she had given him moral support and monetary help.
Things, however, soured between Amrohi and Zinta and the actress who till now was actively helping Amrohi in his property dispute started distancing herself from him.
Shandar Amrohi expired in August 2011 and now two and a half years later the actress has filed a suit. When contacted the actress said,The case is sub-judice and anything I say can backfire. The papers I have submitted in court are there for everyone to see. Everything is transparent, including the copies of the cheques I had written for Shandar Amrohi.
Zinta is known for her straightforwardness and expressing her opinions honestly. A quality which came into the limelight during the Bharat Shah case in 2003.
A source close to her said,Preity is feeling very betrayed. You help someone in his time of need and this is what happens. At one time she was the angel of the Amrohi household and now with Tajdar Amrohi lashing out at her she feels let down. Tajdar is questioning where was she these two and a half years after Shaandar’s death, but the fact is that she has been talking to the family about it and when nothing came of it,she filed a suit. If she had immediately filed a suit after his death,it would not have been proper. He is just trying to get publicity out of the whole thing.
When contacted Tajdar Amrohi didnt deny that the actress had indeed been close to the family, but does not know what went wrong. Preity is a very nice girl and she has been very close to our family. But she has not called or messaged me about this. She sent me a notice on November 5 and filed a case on November 12. Anyway I was not a witness to the transactions between my brother and her. Preity knows that my brother paid income tax to the tune of six crore. She could have asked him for her money then. Why now?
The case goes in for hearing at the Mumbai High Court on December 4.
