Bollywood celebrities today queued up outside polling booths to exercise their franchise to elect corporators for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
In Mumbai,the fate of as many as 2,232 candidates,who are in the fray for 227 seats,was sealed in EVMs.
Counting for the civic polls will be held tomorrow.
Prominent among those from the tinsel town who got their finger inked were Shah Rukh Khan,scriptwriter Salim Khan,his son Arbaaz,filmmakers Rakesh Omprakash Mehra and Madhur Bhandarkar.
However,except Jaya Bachchan,who exercised her franchise at a polling booth in Juhu,no other member from the ollywood’s first family,including Amitabh Bachchan,turned
up to vote.
Big B who recently underwent an abdominal surgery is recuperating at a hospital.
Bollywood also took to the social media to encourage Mumbaikars to vote.
“Ink on the finger day today. I have voted and I hope you will have also put voting in your priority list today,” filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar wrote on twitter.
“Went and cast a vote today… For the first time in my life … Nooooow I’m a responsible citizen !!! Are you ?? (sic),” actress Juhi Chawla said.
Anupam Kher says,Mumbai walo…Ungali dikha ke Ungali karo! Come out and vote”(sic).
“I voted! Disheartening to see a poor turnout at my booth,come on Mumbaikars Vote for your city,” director Ken Ghosh said.
