‘No more a democracy, shameful’: Actor Adnan Siddiqui and singer Hasan Raheem support ex-PM Imran Khan after his arrest
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan, was arrested for his alleged connection in the Al-Qadir Trust case in which he and his wife Bushra Bibi have been accused of illegally buying property from a businessman.

(Photo: Hasan/Instagram, Express Archives) After former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, was arrested for his alleged involvement in a corruption case on Tuesday in Islamabad, a number of Pakistani celebrities took to social media to vent their anger at the state of affairs in the country.
Popular singers such as Hasan Raheem and Qurat-ul-Ain Balouch, as well as actors such as Atiqa Odho and Adnan Siddiqui stood in support of Khan as he was arrested by the paramilitary forces of the country inside the high court’s compound.

Adnan Siddiqui, who has been seen in films such as A Mighty Heart and the Hindi feature Mom wrote on Twitter, “Shameful and shocking to see a former PM being dragged like a petty criminal. Never in the history of our country were such scenes witnessed. Power has surely gone to the ruling dispensation’s head.” Atiqa Odho took to Instagram to share a video of the arrest and wrote in the caption, “Imran Khan arrested while sitting inside the court. Shameful! He was there to get bail but they used the moment to NAB him instead. Chief Justice should insist he’s presented back in court to ensure his safety at once! Any citizen following the law and respecting the courts of Pakistan deserves security!”

Meanwhile singer Qurat-ul-Ain Balouch lamented saying that Pakistan is no longer a democracy: “It’s official. We are no more a democracy.” Hasan Raheem, who achieved immense popularity for his Coke Studio single “Peechay Hutt” tweeted “Abay inkay baap ka mulk thori hai (Pakistan is not owned by them).”
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan, was arrested for his alleged connection in the Al-Qadir Trust case in which he and his wife Bushra Bibi have been accused of illegally buying property from a businessman. Khan has denied his involvement and said they are politically motivated.
