IFC files cheating case against Sanjay Gadhvi
The Dhoom director faces a cheating case for failing to submit the final script of a film on two occasions.
The Indian Film Company (IFC) has filed a criminal case of cheating against director Sanjay Gadhvi in a Delhi court, for failing to submit the final script of a film on two occasions. The IFC has claimed losses of Rs 5.2 crore due to the Dhoom director and a case has been filed under section 420 of the IPC.
The complaint came up before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate,New Delhi on June 5. The Court recorded that there is sufficient material to proceed with the complaint and has now kept the matter for recording evidence,IFC sources said here today.
Indian Films had signed Gadhvi for two films in January 2008 and conceptually approved the first film,’7 days in Paris’ in October 2008.
After that IFC approached Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif for the lead roles and both gave their consent to the project. Since the final script was not readied in time by Gadhvi, the actors started work on other projects.
In the second round of casting, the studio approached Neil Nitin Mukesh and Genelia D’Souza and both actors are still awaiting the final script from Gadhvi.
The studio had hired not only the entire production crew but also sent recce teams to Paris,Prague and other places. However the final script was never delivered, sources said. Finally the studio filed a criminal complaint.
Gadhvi,however,remained unavailable for comment.
