Italian car makers Ferrari have made a stunning 3-million-pound special edition sports car just for music legend Eric Clapton.
The SP12 EC is described by the carmaker as being created as homage to Claptons career and his long lasting experience as a Ferrari owner.
SP stands for special project and EC stands for Eric Clapton.
According to reports,Clapton paid 3 million pounds for the one-off model which took two years to make.
In an interview with Ferrari Magazine, the 67-year-old singer admitted the start of the project was like being in front of a gigantic blank canvas that had to be painted on.
He added that overseeing the manufacture of the car was one of the most satisfying things Ive ever done.
It is based on the 458 Italia model but features styling from the rock legends favourite Ferrari model 512 BB. He has previously owned three of these, the Mirror reported.
The SP12 ECs hand-built body include a larger air intake at the front of the car, grey slats on the front boot lid and a two-tone red and black paint scheme.
The car is part of Ferraris One-Off Programme, which was set up in 2007 to create unique models following demand from super-rich customers.
Cars built by the One-Off Programme must be based on an existing Ferrari platform.
The Tears in Heaven singer will also get the tools used to make the car which ensures it remains unique.
Just like music is created, applying the right notes in the right places to build a musical score,so was the creative process behind the SP12 EC, a Ferrari spokesman said.
