Big B’s sandals worshipped by fans at his ‘temple’

Fans worshipped the sandals he wore in 'Agneepath' placed on the chair from his film 'Aks'.

Celebrating Amitabh Bachahan’s 70th birthday,hundreds of his fans today gathered at a temple in south Kolkata and worshipped the sandals he wore in ‘Agneepath’ placed on the chair from his film ‘Aks’.

Organised under the aegis of Amitabh Bachchan Fans Association of Kolkata,they also performed a ‘yagna’ inside the temple,constructed few years ago to worship their

favourite actor.

Praying for his health,the fans took part in the ceremony and distributed clothes and food to the needy.

The Bondel Road temple,decorated with film posters and Bachchan memorabilia,wore a festive look during the day with an endless stream of fans dropping in.

The fans said some members of the association went to Mumbai to greet Bachchan personally at his residence.

Eminent painter Wasim Kapoor celebrated the occasion at his residence in Kolkata by sketching a portrait of Big B which he would gift to him soon in Mumbai.

He also released a book on portraits of Bachchan and later cut a cake in the presence of family and friends.

Members of the association said that Bachchan launched their website at his ‘Pratiksha’ bungalow in Mumbai.

Seeking his blessings,the fans’ group,led by Sourav Banerjee,gifted him an idol of Goddess Durga keeping in mind the upcoming Durga Puja festival.

During the meeting,he was also gifted some sketches and gifts from his fans.
