Beyonce’s upcoming Malaysian concert under threat

Pop diva Beyonce Knowles upcoming concert in Malayasia is under threat from religious leaders.

Pop diva Beyonce Knowles upcoming concert in Malayasia is under threat from religious leaders, who believe that the show is against the cultural ethics of the country.

It is for the second time that the ‘Crazy In Love’ hitmaker has been targeted in Malaysia. Beyonce was forced to cancel a show in the country following similar protest threats two years ago.

The ‘Single Ladies’ singer is taking to the stage in Kuala Lumpur in October as part of her ‘I Am.. world’ tour, but conservative Muslims leaders have threatened to oppose it,reported Contactmusic.

The star had cancelled a 2007 gig in the country following protest threats by Malaysia’s opposition Islamic party, because of strict laws which require female performers to cover up from the shoulders to knees with no cleavage showing, the website said.

And now,the critics are planning to protest to the government over the scheduled gig.

“We are not against entertainment as long as it is within the framework of our culture and our religion. We are against Western sexy performances. We don’t think our people need that,” Sabki Yusof, youth vice head of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, said.

Singers Avril Lavigne and Gwen Stefani have also performed in Malaysia under similar protest threats and were forced to cover up for their concerts.
