Radio station staff in Austria have apologised for duping fans of popstar Beyonce Knowles by taking a singer’s look-alike on a VIP tour of Vienna.

The ‘Crazy In Love’ hitmaker came under fire from bosses at the Austrian capital’s Albertina art museum after they accused her of shunning a planned visit on Tuesday and sending a duplicate in her place,‘Contactmusic’ reported.

But it has now emerged the incident was a radio station’s prank and the museum chiefs were among hundreds of people fooled by the stunt.

Staff at Austria’s Kronehit Radio hired a Beyonce look-a-like to coincide with the singer’s Vienna concert on Tuesday.

They took the look-alike to various tourist attractions and famous locations in the city, sent her on a shopping trip – and then phoned the Albertina posing as her management to arrange an exclusive visit.

Andrea Hilber, marketing manager at Kronehit Radio, confirmed the station was responsible for the stunt and said,”We’ll call the Albertina to say we meant no harm. It was a great museum tour.”
