B R Films settles plagiarism charges with Fox

The Hollywood studio went to Mumbai High Court demanding Rs 7 crore as damage charges and a ban on the release of the film.

“We have settled the case out-of-court with Fox but the terms and conditions of the deal cannot be disclosed,” Sanjay Bhutiyani,CEO of B R films told PTI.

Bhutiyani refused to comment on reports claiming that the settlement cost B R films a whopping USD 200,000.

The production house had earlier denied the allegations with Ravi Chopra saying that they had a written permission to make the Hindi version of the movie.

“We have a written permission from the company and it was aware about the production of our movie way back since October 2007,” Chopra had said.

However,the legal papers filed by Fox stated that permission had been granted to make a film based on the idea of ‘My Cousin Vinny’ but they had not approved the plan to make a Hindi remake.

Now that an agreement has been reached,B R Films plans to release the movie,which stars Govinda,Tabu and Lara Dutta,in October.
