Versatile actor Ranveer Singh has been signed on to play the lead in YRF head Aditya Chopra’s directorial ‘Befikre’. The Twitter handle of the production house posted a video that showed Ranveer taking a trip of the fourth floor of the YRF’s office and revealing that he will be a part of the next YRF movie.
Ranveer Singh had started his Bollywood career in 2010 with YRF’s ‘Band Baaja Baraat’ directed by Maneesh Sharma. Thus, in the video, the swashbuckling actor entails how he reacted when he finally cleared all his auditions and ‘Adi sir’ called him to his office, sat across the couch and gave him the news.
“This is a really special video. This is the fourth floor at Yash Raj studio. It is the place where Yash ji used to sit and Aditya sits and essentially this is where I started my journey as an actor,” the 30-year-old actor said.
Five years later, when Aditya Chopra decided to make him a part of his next directorial, Ranveer Singh went through similar emotions.
“Now five years later, it has been a journey… It was always my dream to star in Adi sir’s movie, to be directed by my mentor, something which will be truly special to me. The news is overwhelming and I again cried. Adi saw me crying and said, ‘You can do it,'” said Ranveer, adding it was a “big deal” for him.
In the video, Ranveer Singh also explained how he cried tears of joy upon hearing the news, and how, similar to what happened before his debut, Aditya came to him, put his arm on his shoulder and said, “Tu Kar Lega.”
The ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ star also said he felt special to be chosen for the project because Aditya could have taken any actor.
Along with being a good way to break the news and promoting the movie, the video is a treat for all Ranveer Singh fans.
Aditya Chopra is returning to film direction after seven years with ‘Befikre’ — and he chose his father and veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra’s 83rd birth anniversary on September 27 to make a formal announcement about the project. He calls it his ‘riskiest’ and ‘youngest’ film.
Aditya, who last directed ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ in 2008, admitted in the e-letter, which announced the film, that his father always wanted him to direct the “biggest films of YRF” and this new project is “not that”.
The film’s tagline reads – “Those who dare to love”, indicating that love will be a core element in Aditya’s new film.
It’s being speculated that Anushka Sharma, who has shared screen space with Ranveer in ‘Band Baaja Baraat’, ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl’ and ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, will be the female lead in the movie. Names like Vaani Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra are also in consideration.
