Rustom star Akshay Kumar is one of the few actors in Bollywood who has been very consistent in his acting career and has always taken his career graph a level higher. After entertaining us with back-to-back box office hits like Airlift and Housefull 3 in the first half of 2016, the Khiladi Akshay Kumar has now rolled up his sleeves seems to have hit a hattrick with his upcoming film Rustom at the box office. The film is inspired by the sensational case of naval officer K M Nanavati that changed the face of the Indian judicial system. He was tried for the murder of his wife Sylvia’s lover with his service revolver. While the trailer has managed to grab the attention of many, Akshay Kumar’s film has been garnering praise from the viewers and Bollywood ever since its first look was released. And with each passing day, Bollywood actors and actresses have been promoting Rustom in their own unique way.

While the buzz around the movie is strong, it will be interesting to see how Rustom performs at the box office. Airlift: This Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur starrer is based on the largest human evacuation of Indians living in Kuwait during the Gulf War in the 90s. Akshay Kumar played the character of Ranjeet Katiyal, an Indian businessman, who drives the evacuation. The movie received an immense response — both critical and box office — and managed to strike the right chord with the audiences. The movie, which was released four days before the Republic Day, made it to the coveted Rs. 100 crore club and was 2016’s first movie to reach this mark. It earned Rs. 128 crore during its lifetime.

Housefull 3: Akshay Kumar along with Riteish Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan brought back the slapstick humour in the third instalment of the Housefull franchise. It also starred Jacqueline Fernandez, Lisa Haydon and Nargis Fakhri in the lead roles. The movie emerged as the clear winner at the box office and crossed Rs. 100 crore mark in just 12 days of its release. Housefull 3 earned a total of Rs. 109.12 crore.

Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty: This Akshay Kumar movie made a strong and powerful connect with the audiences and offered something new to the viewers. The film, which also starred Sonakshi Sinha, also saw the comeback of Govinda in Hindi films after a long time. The movie revolved around terror sleepers cells.


Rowdy Rathore: This movie saw Akshay Kumar in a completely different avatar and showed his naughty side to the audiences, and had Sonakshi Sinha as the lead. Akshay played a double role in this film. His dialogues, songs and action scenes became all-time favourites. The movie garnered immense appreciation from the masses as well as critics, which made it one of the biggest hits of 2012. The movie earned Rs. 133.25 crore during its lifetime and is Akshay Kumar’s highest grossing movie till date.

Housefull 2: The second instalment of the Housefull franchise was a full-on family entertainer. Akshay Kumar’s funny gags were lauded and managed to tickle audiences’ funny bone. It also starred John Abraham, Asin Thottumkal, Jacqueline Fernandez, Ritesh Deshmukh, Zarine Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Shazahn Padamsee, Boman Irani, Mithun Chakraborty, Rishi Kapoor, and Randheer Kapoor in lead roles. Johnny Lever and Chunky Pandey played the supporting characters in the film. The movie earned Rs 109.12 crore.
