Who is Pallavi Sharda?

Australian-born Pallavi Sharda nurtured a childhood dream of being an Indian actress.

As promotions for Abhinav Kashyap’s latest masala romantic, action, comedy flick Besharam enter their last few days before release, surprisingly we still don’t know much of the film’s lead actress,25-year-old Pallavi Sharda, who’s starring opposite India’s hearthrob Ranbir Kapoor and has been given the privilege to dance alongside Rishi Kapoor,Neetu Singh and Ranbir in their on-screen family song,’Chal Hand Uthake Nachche’.

Born in Melbourne,Australia,Pallavi nurtured a childhood dream of being an Indian actress, she began to practice Bharatnatyam at the age of three and proceeded to act in several theatre productions in Australia and later,in America.

According to her mini bio on IMDB,by the time she was a teenager, she had already given over a 100 stage performances.

Pallavi Sharda’s acting career started with a cameo in Karan Johar’s ‘My Name Is Khan’ (2010). Later that year, she starred in the comedy ‘Dus Tola’ opposite Manoj Bajpayee and was crowned ‘Miss India Australia’ in Sydney in 2010. She moved to Mumbai after My Name is Khan and did small roles in Dia Mirza’s ‘Love Breakups Zindagi’ and Madhur Bhandarkar’s Kareena Kapoor-starrer ‘Heroine’.

Although she was born and raised in Australia,Pallavi seems incredibly ‘desi’ at heart.

We found amateur videos on YouTube where she appears to be stealing the show with her Bollywood ‘jhatkas’ and impressing the ‘firang’ audience who seem to expect nothing less from her.

She has always claimed she is a dancer before anything else and the finesse with which she’s seen dancing in the ‘Besharam’ music videos shows she can match and maybe even outperform her co-star Ranbir Kapoor.

With both her parents being IIT pass outs with PhDs in science and engineering,Pallavi Sharda and her brother were always academically inclined. After completing her schooling,Pallavi finished her double degree in law and business administration within four-and-a-half years.

At the age of 21,she came to the land of her roots to begin acting in theatre.

“save your legs”

She bagged the lead role in Shruti Merchant’s musical ‘Taj Express’,choreographed by Vaibhavi merchant. Director Abhinav Kashyap is said to have spotted the young talent in ‘Love Breakups Zindagi’ after which she auditioned for ‘Besharam’.

Clearly, the actress showed promise as she was selected to play the headstrong go-getter Tara Sharma in the film releasing on Gandhi Jayanti (October 2).

We can expect a fantastic performance from her because even before the film’s release,Pallavi has already been signed for Vibhu Puri’s directorial debut,a period film alongside Ayushmann Khurrana. This film is said to go on the floors in a few months.
